On Friday June 17, 2022, PV Youth Wrestling continued its off-season coaches' clinic series with Jordan Wood.
Jordan started his wrestling career as a youth wrestler for the Boyertown Demons where he won multiple PJW, OTOC, War at the Shore and MAWA championships. As a scholastic wrestler for Boyertown High School, he was a PIAA State runner up as a freshman and sophomore, PIAA state champion as a junior. Jordan would go on to wrestle at Leigh where he amassed such honors as two-time all-American and the first-ever five-time EIWA Champion. As a senior level Freestyle wrestler, he placed third at the Medved in Minsk, Belarus and qualified for the Olympic Trials in 2021 placing second at the Last Chance Olympic Trials qualifier.
Jordan Wood is passionate about growing the sport of wrestling he’s eager to help athletes become the best they can in the sport of wrestling. Jordan told the youth athletes in attendance that his dream is to bring a gold medal home and put our area on the map.
You could see that Jordan really enjoyed teaching the young athletes. After the session Jordan commented “The group was attentive and awesome! I was thrilled to expose them to some of the fundamentals that I still use today. The two hours went by quickly because we were all having so much fun.”
We spent a few minutes talking about the importance of these types of events. During that conversation Jordan said, “These monthly off-season clinics are such an awesome opportunity for kids this age to get on the mat, learn a couple things, but ultimately remember that wrestling is a game and something we love to do.”
Assistant coach at PV Youth Wrestling, Ryan Weaver said “You could see how excited the kids were to have a wrestler of Jordan’s caliber here. These sessions are great for the wrestlers, but they are also good for the coaches. We often learn a few new techniques as well as some fun and motivating activities we can incorporate into our own practices.”
PV Youth wrestling would like to thank Jordon for coming and running an epic clinic.
